I'm not sure where to begin to figure out this problem. The truck will stutter at idle and while driving. While driving it can be felt, at idle it is not so apparent. RPMs do not change. No codes.
I started to think it was the transmission (because of the driving stutter) but at idle (in drive, like at a light)? 138K miles on the body and transmission. Maybe 14k on the engine. The truck has been sitting for more than 1 year. Driven a few times to keep the wheels round, but mostly just sitting. Now I need to use it as my backup vehicle and it is acting strange.
Thanks for the reply. I'll have a look at the IAC. Fresh gas, tranny fluid checked and good.
sorry had to ask. I'm sure you know sometimes it can be the simplest thing.
and more simple stuff....How old is the fuel filter? and you made sure that the air filter is good? ( no mouse nests)
How far did you drive it after getting it out of storage?
If no improvement with cleaning the IAC. Then start looking for vacuum leaks or test how much vacuum there is. Maybe check the fuel pressure, with sitting for extended periods the fuel pump might be showing signs of age and these electric in tank ones do not like to sit.
If you have a scanner that has ability of live data, look to see if there is slight random misfires
Having same or similar problem with mine today and it sounds like the notorious COP - coil on plug problem. Many posts on this topic. This will be my third one at 77K miles. But it is an '02 so I don't drive it much.
