So basically my truck seems to dip low in idle every now and then, but wont stall. If i rev the engine a bit, it seems to lag when coming back down to normal rpm range. No codes whatsoever are showing, Could this be the fpr? It has a new filter/plugs on it, problem is i don't have a fuel pressure tester at the moment. No fuel when i pull off the vacuum hose, but could the diaphram inside the FPR still be damaged after sitting so long?
Na, Sounds like your IAC is sticking, take it off and soak it in GM top engine cleaner, it's the best stuff out there for cleaning throttle bodies and idle air control motors. I havn't found anything better and have been doing this for almost 30 years. If your going to clean the IAC, do a throttle body cleaning and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, let it relearn the idle stratagey. It might be lopey or idle high or low but after you drive it it will return to normal
I agree. They are quite difficult and confusing for those of us who are not well versed in what parts are what. Many of these parts I have never heard of as 99% of my experience is with old carbureted vehicles.
Sounds promising David, i'll get to cleaning it out this weekend. However i do have one question regarding this; the guy i bought my truck off of, he handed me a iac solenoid that was brand new and i did install it after he said it may need it, however after installing it i realized the connector port is now facing down towards the distributor, and not facing up above it anymore. Does this solenoid differ from the original mechanically-wise or do i have to switch back to the original?
As for the short abbreviations for parts i agree now that i look at what i wrote lol. Was in a hurry to get this typed up but full terms are a helluva lot more understandable and i'll keep it simple from now on, thanks guys.
