Hey Guys,
My wife brought a 2003 F450 with the V10 engine in it and the brake lines are a complete rusted mess.
Ive been hunting on line for a while trying to find some info on it and have come up short.
What Im looking for is a circuit diagram or better still a a parts list on what I would need to replace the hard brake lines, and probably the soft ones too like the number and size of fittings.
Just buy a selection of various length pre flared lines and a couple of unions from the parts store. Replace one line at a time, and you don't need a diagram.
The most common failure points are along the rear axle and between the frame and fuel tank. Rock Auto has good prices on hoses. From memory, the lines along the frame are 1/4", but the axle lines may be 3/16". The Rock Auto hoses will possibly need a retaining clip, available through Rock or any parts store. One reducer fitting may be needed, depending on the supplier of the hoses, but that's a common parts store item too.
Thanks finn, I was going to get a roll of tubing for the sizes I needed and was going to replace all the little bits and fitting as I went along.
Hence the reason for wanting to find a parts list, as I kinda hate having to go to the parts store 15 times!!
Now I dont mind 2 or 3 times, but more than that and its a long way to go from where the Vet Mobile is parked.
Actually by the state of it I'm inclined to call it a 'The rust Hulk'!!
