Thoughts on 87 octane tunes

I wanted to see what you guys have to say. I've been tuning Ford's since 2005 as a side business. I had a dyno shop for about 4 years. Mostly I just tune boosted mustangs. Generally I tell customers that 87 octane tunes are pointless on mostly stock manuals, but may be worth it on autos. I'm thinking I'll make a couple minor changes, but it will be far more conservative than what you'd get from most sct dealers. I'll probably disable the 4-3 shift over 2300rpms.

I've been running a 87 tune from 5Star since 2010. I absolutely love it! I told him I drive it like a Nascar so the tune reflects that, the main change you really feel is the transmission will actually do what I want it to now instead of being a total slush box.

That said It dropped my MPG over stock, but I'd rather have something thats fun to drive verses 2 MPG I lost.

I have the 5 Star Perf 87 tune and love it as well. Most of the difference to me is the shifting, which makes everything else better IMO. I'm getting 10.8 mostly driven in town.
