I had a 2000 Ex V10 that I had to refurbish mechanically (it was neglected) that I used to tow my trailers around for a few years. Then I tried a 6.0L that I bulletproofed and really enjoyed (and miss). I have driven a few trucks in the meanwhile and am looking at a Ex 7.3L now. This one is stock with 225K. Any experiences or comparisons?
Thanks

4X4?
With just a few modifications/improvements the 7.3 will supply 330~ BHP (same as a stock 6.0) with less worry, but more noise.
The 6.0 has/had a better transmission that is more fuel efficient
The '05 front grille is an advantage over the earlier models, plus it is youngest of them all. The gas engines are proven, the 6L you already are expert at, and only it will have 5r110 in an excursion.
I have the 7.3 psd in my motorhome. It's weaker than the tuck because there is no intercooler. It's loud as hell, but knocks down a solid 10mpg at 13,500lb, even towing another 6k. I went with the v10 for two reasons. Gas stations around here only have diesel at one pump. I like driving gas vehicles better. The only time I prefer diesel is pulling up large grades. Oh yeah, they cost 10k more for the same year and miles, or you get an additional 100,000+ miles. A bullet proof 6.0 is superior to the 7.3.
