Hey guys, I have a 2012 F-150 Supercrew (without the Sony stereo) and want to update everything except for the factory stereo. I am replacing all of the factory speakers and adding subs, preferably with a fox box or a supercrewsound box. I have spent too much time trying to decide what subs/amp to buy and what speakers to buy to replace the factory speakers. Also not sure if I need an amp to push those. I'd like to stay around $1K if possible. Please help! I don't want to spend $1K and have the system sound like crap. Thanks!
JL makes a pancake woofer in 10" and 12" that is the best bass I have ever heard. I have some JL 10TW1-4 and a 12TW1-4 going into my truck. But after installing a 10TW3-D4 in a truck a few weeks ago I was amazed.
The subwoofer is around $300.00 and well worth the price.
As far as a amplifier goes you need a mono amp in the 500 watt range @4 ohms to power it. Alpine makes a nice amp MRV-1200 that makes 600 watts @ 4 ohms for $260.00
It's a lot of amplifier but will do nicely tho.
JL Audio makes a JX1000 amp @500 watts for $450.00.
I would go with the Alpine myself.
Anyhow those are some nice options. I'm going to get one of those subs for my truck to replace the TW1-4. For SURE
