Brians project Road Rash
Got it welded in. Yeah
Still have to make small patch behind vent flange. I started working on the door pillar. I need to work on the hinge mount, there is a double thickness piece the goes between the hinge and the pillar. This piece will need be made in three pieces.
A set of these panel clamps would probably make your life a lot easier, when clamping the panels down to weld them into place.
This is just for example, in the following link. These clamps are available from various vendors and from ebay as well.

I got the new piece made I put it in and out about ten times before I was able to get the holes drilled fro the bolt. Measure 100 times and drill once. I got it.
Welded the nut on. Fit it all one more time before I weld the two pieces together.
Marked and drilled the holes to rosette weld the 2 pieces together. Cleaned and used some weld-thru primer.
Got everything pu together and cleaned up the welds. It all came out better than I thought it would.

I will work on the top part of the pillar before I weld this piece in. All in all another good day of progress.

Steve thanks for the tip on the panel clamps. I have seen others use them and I wasn't sure how they worked. Looks like they work very well. I will search around and see if I can find some local.
Stay tuned there will be more progress next weekend.

i'll second the clamps, but if your going to buy china goods, may as well buy the same clamps from hf, cheaper and you get 8 instead of 4 and don't have to pay shipping.
