Guys, It is ok to have a civil discussion on the change intervals and whether you agree or not.
It is ok the discuss how you think Ford interprets the data.
Lets keep it civil and productive.

Trusting an idiot light without relying on some common sense is not what I'll be doing.
Just my $.02.

I have plenty of common sense and I do trust the engineers at Ford. My 2005 6.0L has over 200,000 miles on it and runs like a top doing oil changes closer to 10,000 miles while running around on the farm. Runs like a top, doesn't use a drop between changes and never lets me down.
I'll let you guys keep the oil companies in business. I'll trade off the truck every 200k. and not because the engine is bad.
Not to throw spears at anyone and I am not sure of the complete rules on posting from other forums, but I read a post on dieselstop that says the new 2017 Ford Super Duty's require different oil, will try to find the post but if I remember right the Rotella 5W-40 is no longer good for the truck and others? Might be worth some Ford experts chiming in.

I'm almost certain it is the change to CK-4 Standard by the American Petroleum Institute. This standard calls for a lower viscosity and Ford says DON"T USE IT.
another thread on this forum had a pdf listed which I down loaded. I don't know where the link is.
search for this on Ford web site.

On my previous gas truck I only changed oil like once a year. I always use full synthetic. I drive like 2-4k miles a year, only weekend outings and never towed or haul anything other than camping gear.
I got a 2017 SD Diesel now, and plan to keep the same oil change intervals. Annually.

You're only going to put 2-4K miles on your diesel?
Just had my change oil light illuminate while I was headed up to the dealer to take a look at a new Raptor they had delivered today, wanted to check out what all the hype was about.
I've got 4,489 miles on it,has anyone else had there light go off as early?
On my 2011 I changed it when the dash said to. That was usually 5,500-6,500 miles. It's still running strong with 207,000 miles so I'll probably do the same thing on this one.
