I have a 1984 F350 4x4 crew cab with a 460 in it. I bought this truck from a old farmer who has taken out the in tank fuel pumps and has put in a inline fuel pump that pumps 30 gallons an hour and runs about 5-9 PSI. In the last year and half I have gone through 3 three of these pumps. These are the ones that you can get from auto zone for about 50 bucks. Is it better to go back to the in tank fuel pumps or is there a better system to use? Also wondering if the inline pumps that run between 5-9 psi are enough to feed the 460 with a 4 barrel carb? any help would be greatly appreciated.
All carbs no matter how big they are or how big the engine is they feed, stay in that 5 psi range. So stick with that.
I think you should try a different brand of pump. Some of the parts store pumps do not have a good reputation. I have seen these little pumps run a long time, I wonder how long one of these would last in your application?
