Good call, you're probably correct that the insulation factor would hold the heat in, just like wearing a sweater does. I remember back in the 70s (sigh, yes getting old) gearheads would paint their rear axles white. While this looked good they seemed to ignore the fact that the paint was white on both sides. This means the white reflected the heat back into the axle and fluid causing the fluid to breakdown and the axle to fail prematurely.

I sell radiant heating systems and have worked in the industry for 30 years. Nice to hear from someone who understands how heat can be reflected. Very cool tidbit that you shared. Learn something new every day. Thanks
