When the 4x4 is engaged and I try to turn either way it feels like the brakes are on. It barely wants to move and it makes a grinding dragging sound. The tighter the turn the worse it is. Going forward is fine and when 4x4 is not engaged i can turn just fine. Any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks!
Oh, okay.
Then I'm just guessing - if it only happens when in 4X4 it may be in the transfer case. When in A4WD the electronic clutch is the transfer case is not locking the front and rear drive shafts together.
Where is the grinding dragging noise coming from?
I had a similar issue and changed all the fluids and it went away. I changed the front and rear diff fluid along with the transfer case fluid. Now its smooth as can be. Good luck
It's normal to get some binding, especially with a limited slip rear end like a lot of our truck have. Mine does the same thing in 4x4, if its on dry pavement.
