Dash light issue.

Dash lights are not working in my 78 F150. The climate control lights come on and are dimmable with the headlight switch. I pulled the cluster and the Blue/Red wire has voltage. Which might be the ground? The Seat belt light comes on at start and the left turn signal will blink. What am I missing. Oh the cluster is deteriorating. some of the bulb holes are chipping out. Thanks.

If the blue/red wire has voltage at the cluster plug, then your circuit board/cluster has a problem. I have had to take a pencil eraser and polish the copper traces to make things start to work again.

Look where the blue red comes into the cluster plug. Count over how many traces that is and then try to poke the trace to see where you are losing it. You are correct, you may have a ground problem also. Follow the blue/red trace to one of the bulbs. The trace on the other side of the bulb will be the ground, follow that back till you get to the cluster plug and find out which one is ground. If when you have voltage on the blue/red, if you probe the ground wire and you have voltage there too, or when you probe it all the cluster lights suddenly come on, then you know that wire has a ground problem wherever it goes.

If you just did a lot of fixing up and painting the dash, that can cause grounding problems.
