56 F100 question regarding Door Seal Retainer

Is there such a thing as a Door Seal Retainer set for a '56 pickup? The guy in charge of restoring my truck is asking for one but all I can find in the catalog is a set for year models '48 -'52. Will this set work for my '56?

Welcome to FTE, the best Ford truck forum on the world wide Web. Now you must show us pictures of your Truck.

Yes there are door seal retainers for 53 to 56 trucks and they are different than what 48 to 52 use. Go to Mid Fifty s website to find one.

Retainers?

Sorry to freeload off another retainer thread. I've owned my '56 F100 for about 30 years. I had it redone back then and I'm doing a re restoration as we speak. As I notice- the truck doesn't have these retainers on it and I'm trying to figure out if I need to order a pair. Does anyone have any pictures of these installed and are they really needed?

Yes, I would say they are needed. They help hold the door rubber in place at the bottom of the door rather than just relying on the adhesive. It is here that without the retainer the Weatherstripping could slide up the door and not be in the right place.
