I know it's been asked before, I looked but was unable to find it, I'd like to get a shorter antenna for my truck. Has anyone changed theirs out and which one are you using? Also will it mess up the satellite radio? Or is that antenna the small flat black one between the cab lights? Thanks
I installed the
Steadfast Auto 10332 - Ford F-Series Antenna 13 Inch - Soft-Flex Titanium
from Amazon and although it is extremely flexible the signal seems almost up to the factory antenna. The car wash does not effect it and it is low enough so the camper overhang should not interfere with the signal. Good so far.
Rotney, how did the AntennaMastsRUs unit work out?
Rob, does your replacement antenna whistle? That seems to be a common complaint on Amazon for that antenna. I think I'll stick with something a bit taller though.
I wouldn't mind a shorter antenna; however, I would prefer one that got better reception. My FM channels seem to fade out faster with this truck than my previous Super Duty. Do they make both shorter and better reception ones or at least better reception?
I purchased a 17" universal at AutoZone, short enough to get into my garage without rubbing, still has good reception. I kept the factory antenna for road trips. I think it was $20 or so, I purchased the better antenna of the ones they had on the shelf.
