Fuel Pump Replacement help...
Good evening folks!! I hope everyone had a GREAT new year and that everything is starting off right!!
Ok, down to business. I recently replaced the fuel pump (frame mounted high pressure) and all the connections were set accordingly. But now I have a problem where the line that runs from that fuel pump to the canister fuel filter (the filter between the fuel tank and High Pressure Fuel pump) is leaking. It's leaking right at the new frame mounted fuel pump from the rear nozzle. The fuel line is metal with a coupling looking piece and is "supposed" to hold tight with the Horseshoe plastic locks...but it's not. The front held fine...but i'm having issues with the rear. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!
As a side note, my friend already tried an O-ring to help seal it...no bueno

I was going to suggest a repair kit from Dorman that the parts store carries. But I can't make heads or tails of what they have available online, you might need to go to the store and see what they have.
Or rig it some other way. On my 86 ranger I could not get those special spring retainer connectors loose. So I cut the plastic line, pulled the engine did what needed to do, and then I peeled the old line off the connector barbs, heated the barbs and slipped the nylon line back over it, and then used a little hose clamp for insurance. Been on there 6 months now with no problems.
Dorman has barbed couplers also. Do you have enough line where you could cut the offending connector off, and then just slip the nylon line directly up on the metal line and clamp it with a hose clamp?
Go check the store for the Dorman stuff if you do not want to rig it and see what they carry.

Thanks Dave!! I'll look into it. But at this point...I'm not even able to find a picture of what the spring retainer connectors look like. As far as room...I have plenty of room to remove the connector and just put a hose on it with a clamp on both sides if I wanted to. But I would like to get the correct part on it if at all possible. Worst case scenario...I take that portion of hose off (probably about 4ft) and take it with me to the store to match it up. Just didn't know if someone had either a part number or photo of one that maybe I could look at :-)

It's almost impossible to help people, when they don't list a single shred of evidence of what they're working on.
@ Franklin : yep...that's it. I will be picking that up and installing it this weekend if my local store still has the Dorman repair kit.
@ NumberDummy : you are right...I will remember that for future reference...thanks for the reminder.
@Whatsachevy? : I'd really like to keep it as close to what it should be as possible...though the thought did cross my mind after all the frustration in dealing with this truck. I can't wait to get her on the road.
