First, this is a friends truck; I mostly post on "Pre power stroke". And the OBS forum.
My friends '01 F-450 SD, 14' bed, A/T with 285.XXX mile with swamps inj 25K back and truck has sat for a couple months.
Truck had developed an oil leak sometime back he says. Stay tuned, This friend had a guy come by, open the fuel system to "see if the fuel pump was pumping"he said. I showed up with an A/E but batteries were real low. Hooked up charger and left. Came back and while standing there waiting for him to get back I checked the oil. None on stick He poured in 5qts. Still none on stick, He goes to buy oil, it took a total of 14 qts for the pan and HPOP.
With battery charger on boost, batteries are 9/14 matched, full of oil, glow plug relay working and glow plugs same age as inj. - and block heater on all night at 19* she will not start. The tach does not move like my OBS. What am I looking for? I have no idea if the "other friend" did any thing else. I know there is air in the oil system, and fuel system now. But no codes that would tell me anything. Inj.'s Pass a buzz test and the truck passes a KOEO test.
It is supposed to warm up next week.
also if the truck was 14 quarts low there is some major problems, if it happened quickly hpo lines or hpop, hpo end rail plugs, if it was smoking turbo seals, if no indication check fuel filter for black residue, heavy exhaust when idling- injector o rings
I will let him know. He did want to sell it earlier. It's set up to push snow so that was why they all of a sudden went to start it and it wouldn't.
I will try to figure out what happened to the oil. He said it started a month ago so I figure that means August. His daily driver is a '06 F-550 8' dump that has all the stuff done- EGR delete, head bolts etc. this is a 14' straight flat bed. Simply don't drive it much.
