What size are the roll pin that holds the window and door handles on my 52?

My 51 did not have roll pins, they were solid: it does not matter if the pins fit a little loose as the escutcheon plate will retain it. A 2-1/2" coated nail seemed about the perfect diameter, although soft, the pin is not getting the torque when you turn the handle and it is not a PIA if you ever have to take it apart again.
