My 99 has 4:10 gears but does not have the ORP. That is unless someone before me took the stickers and skid plates off. I'm very interested in finding out as much about this package as possible and have looked everywhere. I have the window sticker on my truck and it does not list the ORP but, it does list the 16" alloys and 4:10 gears.
I'll try to find the artice that talked about the differences and post it.
98 ORP gave you charcoal colored grille and bumpers (more rugged), 16" alloy wheels, stiffer shocks, two skid plates, decals.
99 ORP gave you chrome accents (XLT style), and the rest was the same as 98.
00 ORP was the same as 99, but added one skid plate up front for the radiator.
01 ORP was the same as 99.
Any of these trucks, off-road or not, could be found with 3.73s or 4.10s, LS or open...just depended on how the dealer ordered them. ORP didn't give you a certain axle.
02 ORP was the same. FX4 was introduced as the top of the line package.
03 FX4 now has 4.10 LS gears as part of the package, two skid plates, stiffer shocks, 16" wheels, fender flares, and decals. And FX4 Level II is top of the line now.
On the 2000 (and I believe other similar vintages) the ORP says 4x4 Off Road on the left and right rear fenders.
The 4x4 (non-off road) says 4x4 once only, on the left side of the tailgate.
That's how I check other trucks driving by.
Certainly the tires are 16" on the ORP, 15" on the regular.
I've got the regular. Could've bought either, but thought the 15" tires would be cheaper to replace, and I don't off-road much.
I'm more worried about the snow around here in the winter.
