How much cardboard do you use?

With the cold finally setting in here in Kansas I cut up some cardboard to block the radiator. The area open is now smaller than the AC condenser but the gauge still doesn't come up to the "normal" range (yes I know that factory gauges are crappy). So, how much do you block?

Where I live it can be 3 degrees at night and in the teens all day. Haven't had to block it off yet. Temp always runs right where it's supposed to. I'm guessing the mid west is a lot colder than that though

We have gotten pretty cold here for extended periods of time (highs below 0*f) and have never needed to cover the grill at all. Maybe mine is different due to the van body?

Here is south central Minnesota I run my truck with only about a 6"x8" opening in my cardboard cover of my radiator. I also had to wrap my lower radiator hose with some insulating foam to help retain the heat.

The lower radiator hose gets a lot of cold air from under the radiator support on my truck. All you can do really is experiment and find out what works best for your truck.

Dang that's some COLD. Here in western WA it's been in the teens at night for a week and that's pretty cold for us! Haha

Don't need cardboard with my setup...is it just getting heat into the cab faster or what?
