HELP

Was driving my 14 250 pulling 25k excavator & goosekneck lost power got towed down the road. Truck started and had a bunch of codes brakes, advance trac, check engine to name a few. Took terminals off for approximately 45 minutes to try to reset computer. After trying to start it back up would not try to turn over. Motor is free tried in natural and park to start. Double checked all connections tapped on started nothing. I know a voltage meter would help but was on the side of road and didn't have it on me. Any help would be appreciated.

So how much battery power do you have? In the absence of a volt meter, does the starter relay chatter, do you have enough voltage for headlights, etc?

I have lights and full electrical function. Even had an 18 wheeler try to jump me...it chatters and but won't turn over. I'm not master mechanic but can get the job done. Diesel mechanic buddy's thought fuses possibly but they all cheap out fine.

Okay, I don't have an obvious answer, but am going to repeat back what I think I am reading.

You were towing and lose power (as in engine quit running). You were towed down the road and then were able to restart your truck with multiple warning showing on the dash.

Following that, you shut the engine down for 45 minutes and now the starter is not able to turn the engine over. You do have relay chatter which normally means low voltage or a poor battery connection, but you think that is unlikely.

Multiple possibilities for the engine shutting down, but how the heck does the starter not cranking the engine fit into that scenario. The two seem unrelated.

That's where I'm stumped with no voltage meter. Got to be a loose wire somewhere correct? All my connections are clean and snug.

Without a way to check power, I think you are stuck. My thought is the failure to start is just coincidentally linked to disconnecting the battery. I am thinking the same thing is causing both problems. Maybe a grounding issue. I don't know.

Sorry,

Steve

Just a hail Mary but what about the infamous connector by the parking brake?

What turned out to be the culprit? Was it 82 F100 300Six's suggestion?
