Interesting. DEF usage is pretty much continuous and is not used solely during a regen. In fact, it is likely DEF is not injected at all during a regen, because it would lower exhaust gas temperature.
There is no "reset" after a refill - there are probes in the DEF tank which measure level through continuity. You should immediately see the DEF gauge register full after refilling.

I will probably go back to the dealer and request they check the level and go from there. I contacted ford and they said IF they indeed filled all the way it should have reset the next time it was driven.

Sooooooo according to the dealer they said oops.
I returned they checked and it was low 5.5 gal. They said the nozzle on the jugs are messed up and that it acts like it's full but it's not. Hmmmm
Whatever, so it's filled and the gauge reset as soon as I started the truck.
