I found these at a junkyard within an hour and a half of the house. I was very excited because I love the look, but I cannot see a way to install them onto my truck. Maybe a Custom Cab only option??? Or maybe the holes were painted over in my truck...
Look to be in pretty good shape, not perfect but....
If these are not compatible with my truck then they are most definitely for sale. Anyone have an idea of what they are worth? I've got more pics if needed.
Any input is appreciated I left some of the original clips on for reference purposes
These are fresh, I have not cleaned them at all. They may look even better after some polish ingredients.
All clips were present, I only assumed they were readily available for replacing and did not snag them all. Should still be available at the salvage yard if you all think it's a big issue.
Any ideas on which models the trim was available? If CC only, is there a way to affix to standard models??
Doesn't sound like a super easy modification... Any idea what they might be worth to someone who doesn't have an awesome junkyard right down the road?? I've seen them on EBay for upwards of $250-$300. Just seems a little steep for me, couldn't keep a straight face asking that from a hard working person like me. I'm in Ga. about 40 miles west of Atlanta.
That's not a bad price at all. The clips are reproduced, but at $1.60 each and you need 26 total that's over $40 just for the clips so if you can get them it never hurts.
The corners are the pieces that are most often missing. Only one clip held them on, other than where they come into contact with the upper or lower pieces. People would hit them with their elbows and loosen them up and eventually they fall off if you don't keep an eye on them.
Definitely sounds worth going back for the clips. Hell, they might even give them to me. Thanks guys, still haven't decided if I'm going to try and put them on my standard cab model or not. Anyone done this before?? I'd love a few tips if possible to avoid the trial and error portion of a first time attempt...
When salvage shopping some time one gets lucky, a used set of door panel trim aint cheap. Not a purest, just not sure I would try refab. standard cab door to CC, imagine it would be labor intensive, as TA455HO mentioned, there are a minimum of 26 holes and must be perfectly aligned. If the door panel inserts need to be replaced then looking at reproductions at around $100 plus per pair.
IMO, would not purchase the clips unless decide to install in your vehicle, recently purchased the clips thru Carolina Classics.

My bodyman Al and I had to add the trim to my standard cab passenger door. He took lots of precise measurements to get them to fit. I recall that it was a pain to get the clips to click into the holes, even on the original custom cab drivers door.
Dan, I see myself spending a lot more time sifting through your build thread. That's a fine looking machine you've got your self there.
Probably not going to attempt the install, Not enough Al's in my life st the moment LoL...
I'd like to find someone close by that is in need of a set and spread the love around a little, I could make 30 or 40 bucks and they'd still get a good deal.
Is it unheard to have the inside of the door painted where the trim goes?? Kind of like fake it till you make it... Just thinking out loud here
Thanks, glad you liked my build. I applaud everyone that tackles these builds / mods on their own, but I couldn't have ever managed it without Al.
Yeah, I'm sure you could paint the doors to simulate where the trim goes. I figure you would need some painters tape. Al had some thin stuff that stayed flat when you made a curve? I'm not sure what you call it, maybe the kind for making pinstripes?
