68 frame cut

I'm almost ready to cut my highboy 67 frame down to the shortbed chassis I know it's 16 inches that needs to be cut out but I was wondering if anyone knows if it has to be a certain spot behind the cab to start the cut or anywhere between it and the axle I know it's suppose to be on the straight part of frame

Yes, check the sticky at the top of this page. All the info you need is there.

I'm pretty sure this is on a 2WD but is likely the same or very similar to a 4WD frame, in relation of where to cut it.

Mine is a 2wd. I cut mine vertical one inch from the top and bottom of the frame and 45 degrees in between. Then you should weld a gusset on the inside.

Just be careful as that rear driveshaft is going to be real short unless you change to a married transfer case set-up.

The post by Richs2659, had a service bulletin that tells how to do the entire thing. https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/non-html/Q18.pdf

Ok so you cut out 16 inches like that? I just wondering where to start the cut like does it matter if it's three inches behind the cab mount or 6 inches or etc. I know it has to be on the long straight run just making sure it don't matter where I start the cut

I'm not seeing anything like you're talking about. What exactly is the thing you click on?

The very first four posts at the top of this forum are "stickies." They are in red and say, "Read First." It will show up this way whether you have your phone set to display as View Mobile Site or whether you have your phone set to display the screen as View Full Site (screen display format selectable at the very bottom of the screen --I prefer Full Site mode on my phone).

The very first of the four stickies contains various information related to this and was originally put there by HIO Silver.

This is the very first of the four stickys listed at the top of this forum. The information on this should be found in this body if information.

Well I did try those initially but saw nothing in there relating to the original posters' question of frame cutting.
