2007 FREESTAR question...right place?
My son has been having an odd electrical/charging problem with his '07 Freestar.
His battery light began to come on intermittently, meaning for a few minutes every 8-10 trips out with the van. Recently he was driving home from work when the battery light came on and the lights eventually began to fade out.
I went to his place and found that the battery was drained to the point of needing a full charge. I did this, cleaned the terminals, inspected the serp. belt and drove the car for over an hour with every power option running full tilt. No sign of a battery light.
I took it to an Autozone and had the battery and alternator tested, both SAT.
A day or so afterward the problem returned. No symptoms other than the battery light coming on.
I checked the ground cable as best I could in temps in the teens. It seemed OK, but I'm still thinking we have a bad wire or ground somewhere.
Anyone experience this phenom before? Any advice GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks!
Frank
Did you take it over to AZ when the light came back on? If not, I would do so, that way it can be narrowed down If it is the alternator, battery, or both.
Also you mentioned cleaning the terminals, how bad was the corrosion? Those new style clamps easily crack and can give you a bad connection, the only thing you can do is replace them.
