Coolant getting in engine oil

What would be the major cause for coolant getting into my engine oil ??

It is a 1996 F350 with a 7.3 power stroke with turbo and automatic transmission.

I'm hoping it is the engine oil cooler.

Please HELP !!!!

Most likely your oil cooler or cooler O rings, if the truck is running right I wouldn't think its a head gasket or cracked head/block.

It runs good no skipping or water out the exhaust, just going in the oil pan.

Hopefully it's just the engine oil cooler as the previous owner let the truck set for six years and when he started to driving it, it was mixing coolant in the oil.

All responders will be greatly appreciated !!

Usually if it's the oil cooler, oil will go into the coolant because oil pressure is higher than the pressure in the cooling system. Is there any oil in the degas bottle?

Not that I can tell, I have just purchased the truck and have not ran it due to water in the oil.

The coolant level in the radiator is low enough that you cannot see it and I cannot see where any oil has been in the bottle or the radiator.

That's why I have came to this site for help !!

How are you looking in the radiator? A '96 doesn't have a cap on the radiator, just the one on the bottle. I would pull the drain plug on the oil pan after the truck has sat for a couple days. If there is that much coolant in the oil, it will be the first thing that comes out, followed by the oil.

I would also pull the water pump and inspect the timing cover. they have been known to corrode and let water in the oil.

If you remove the top radiator hose you will be able to tell if any oil is in the radiator thus letting you know coolant level is pretty low.

I Plan to pull the drain plug ReBilld just have not messed with it during the holidays due to being with family.

helifixer thanks have not though of that but as it had been setting for six years that could be a sure thing.

Don't mean to come across as a complete dummie I just don't know much about the 7.3 power stroke.

I do value all replies !!

Finally got the hydraulic reservoir installed.

This one was a little hard to figured out, unfortunately I had to cut a horrible hole on the inside of the fender, since my measurements were all wrong.

What to do with the A'C?

So I have all the coolers installed, except the condenser, I'm thinking to take my chances and shave the inside of the grill little by little until I get the condenser in there, use a drimel tool and cut it little by little until it fits.

So, I think you posted in the wrong thread f100. Sounds like you were trying to update a build thread and hit this one by mistake

Due to the age of the truck, I would plan a cooler rebuild anyway, then go from there. Very simple job took me around two hours, I did it when it was nice outside, no rush, etc. Watch some You Tube videos, its easy.
I did my '97 last year, and the o-rings were as hard and brittle as glass, just old.

These guys are great;
