04 6.0 250 no start
Hi All, new here and having a bit of a problem with my truck. Hoping this is the right place to ask my question. If not I apologize, and perhaps someone can point me in the right direction.
Anyways, I have an early 2004 (manufacture dated 08/2003) that doesn't want to start. It seemed to run fine when it did run. It's been sitting about a month while I save up to get a mechanic to look at it. The last time it ran it went about 150 miles then just died and would not restart. Got it to a safe place let it sit about 24 hours and it started up like nothing. Ran so-so but I needed to get it him so drove it. This time it died a mile from my house. Wouldn't restart for anything. So while I'm trying to save up I've been reading and watching all I can. In that time the batteries die, take them to get checked and other than dead they found nothing wrong with them. Brough them home book them back up and try the truck... It starts! Then dies right away. Try it again and it starts and stays running. Let it idle for probably around 30 min then it slowly and sadly died again. It's cranking, and making all the right sounds just not getting it done. My reading has lead me to think its the ICP sensor. Does this sound right??
The FICM is new, the batteries are less then 7 months old. It's not pulling any codes with a reader. There is fuel to the filter so I don't think it's the fuel pump. I'm pretty certain it's something electrical.
* accidentally posted in wrong place. Someone on other post said fuel pump. I suppose that's a possibility too*

Your HPOP is dead, it needs a new pump. Starts cold, dies when warm because it can't keep the pressure up.
Pull the connector on the ICP and try that, if it can make the pressure it should run.
You NEED a gauge to read live data such as HPOP (ICPV) pressure to confirm it. Or you could spend $1000s guessing....
Where are you located, maybe a member close to you with a gauge can help?

That's what I was wondering. Truck now won't start at all. Going to pull ICP and will report back.
I'm located in Northwest Washington.

Maybe someone near there will chime in... assuming you have no gauges to read live data?
Saw you post on that other thread, good read, but the Ford reman pump is a bad choice. Failing out of the box more often than not, if you go that route... YOU will do it again!
Try the WA chapter for a member near you.

leader but there is a tag by my name that say that it's me.
What's your weekend like this week and do you have a covered place to
work? I have to be up to Bellevue on Saturday if things work out the right way.
Also do you have a battery charger that you can put on it to keep the batteries up?
Also do you have anything like a compressor and tools to work with?
Now on to what has all been done.
Did you pull the plug for the ICP and try to start?
WatsonR, Are you thinking that it may of spit out that plug?
With a date of 08/2003 that will have the log type high pressure
rail right? I wished I had the deadhead plugs for that type.
Mykelseychristine, Do you have the ICP under the turbo or on the passenger side valve cover?
This is the late year valve cover in this photo. Id you ICP there right be hind the Glow Plug Module?
Merry Christmas
Happy New Year

That's what I was wondering, or the ICP is so far gone it's making a mess.
Mine made a fine mess, traveled all the way up to where the ICP/IPR junction is.
Early build ICP just a huge PITA......I have always wondered if there is a good way to relocate that puppy.

UPS is either delivering around noon today or 8PM tonight, weather does not look inviting for this evening or tomorrow.
I have 2 fully charged Group 32 that can help with the diagnosis, heck I might even have an IDS by then.
