Switching to a tilt column, straight forward swap?
I have a chance to get a tilt column for my truck but figured I'd ask the experts before I get it. I would imagine all I need to do is swap the ignition switch and all is good. The thing that threw me off was my shifter says "OVERDRIVE" on the end with the button and the donor says "Tow /Haul". I can always switch the lever but was concerned if there were internal differences. Same year trucks but the donor is a dually/diesel.

You may be able to remove the tumbler and swap them without tearing into the column. As for the tow haul button just make sure the connector for the wires match the plug on the truck and you should be ok. Also make sure that the end of the shaft have the same number of splines and the steering shafts are the same diameter. A 1 ton dully may be a beefier setup.

I initially passed on the column because I didn't want to spend $60 on something I thought would work but wasn't positive. So the guy parting the truck text me yesterday and said it was going to the crusher monday. So today I went back and got the tilt column and wheel, sliding back window and XLT dome light for $35. Figure I can't go wrong at that price.
