I have 2,000 miles on my 2017 2.7l. Is there any way to tell if I'm going to have an issue with it too? I called 2 dealers and gave them my VIN and all they said was to bring it in and leave it a day or 2 for them to look at. I haven't been able to do so. Its my daily driver and Ive got a long road trip planned!

No one can tell you if you are going to experience any problems with anything. My suggestion...... Forget everything you have read posted from 93Cobra, Sasquatch or whatever. Don't lose sleep over it. If something is going to break, it's going to break and one just has to deal with it.

Abita, how would I be able to tell if they gave me a new engine vs a used one?

CR, I would keep an eye on the oil level in your truck. The symptoms for me were rough idling and then when I accelerated hard I got the red warning box (with audible bells/dinging) saying I had low oil pressure. When I took it to the dealer, they said I had no oil left in the truck. Other symptoms include people reporting smoke from the exhaust. Goodluck!

Appreciate the warning but mine is a 5.0L V8.

Might want to check the oil pan on it anyway. It's a relatively new design, and may also have the composite oil pan. What year did the 5.4L retire?

We had an engine replacement under warranty due to a failed oil pump. Typically I suppose we'd received a remanufactured engine, but none were available. So Ford sent a brand new engine. The dealer told us what took place.

I would ask, once it arrives at the dealer, the will know for certain. Either way, you should be good to go. With the 2.7 being so new, I would expect it to be a new engine. Good luck.

PS: don't loose sleep over something you have no control over.

Replacing an engine under warranty does not affect resale value or trade-in value.

Buyers will see it in its history and they will buy another one before that one. So, value will be diminished.

Great, your back. A majority of buyers aren't savvy enough to look up vehicle history, another good chunk won't care because it was done under warrantee at a dealer and not in billy bob's backyard. Yes, there will be a small percentage of people who will not buy it because it's not original, big deal plenty of buyers out there. It's not like it's going to have a salvage title or vin mismatch. Unless it's something that will deter a majority of buyers it's not going to take anything away from the value.

Why is ANY input you have negative?

Best bet is to trade it in. A dealership will not care.

Round 4 of pan replacement. The truck is at the dealer for warranty repair...again. They have ordered ELEVEN pans. That's 11. All are warped. Apparently there's a manufacturing problem. How can they be leaving the manufacturer as defective. Dealer said they are starting a hotline conversation with Ford about a solution.

You say they are composite? If they aren't cured properly, they can change shape until the cure happens. Manufactured composite parts should go through a heat cycle in an autoclave. They also need to be cooled completely before any forms are removed.
