My truck came with the OEM rubber floor mats, and I'm not impressed with them one bit. I don't like the coverage they provide, and they seem to mark up very easily with little scratches. I know they are just floor mats, but they look like crap.
I'm thinking of getting WeatherTech All-Weather mats to replace the OEM mats I currently have. I really don't need the floor liner version because I don't live in a place that snows, and my truck doesn't really get dirty enough to warrant the full floor liners. I was wondering if anyone who has the all-weather mats could tell me how you like them. Also, I've never been a fan of black mats because they show everything, so I was thinking of possibly getting the gray mats. I know the gray wouldn't show everything like the black, I'm just not sure how it would look with the black carpet, even though my seats are gray leather. Has anyone bought the gray mats for their truck with the black carpet? If so, how did it look? Thanks.
I have the full-coverage Weathertechs and love them. With kids and just all the winter junk that gets into the truck, I wanted the full-coverage so the carpet wasn't damaged. I have the all-black version, so cannot comment on how well a lighter color might hide dirt.
Complaints of the mats from others are they are a bit slippery when wet. I agree with this assessment, but they're not too bad. Others have said the Husky versions are not as slick when wet.
We're like onug. Silver/gray truck with gray leather seats, but the carpeting and Weathertech mats are black. We like the look, and while ours don't seem particularly slippery when wet, do not under any circumstances put Armor-All or anything like that on them. We took our truck to a car wash that did "full service", and they Armor-All'd the Weathertech mats, and it was like a skating rink. I could not get that stuff washed off soon enough!
I've had black weather tech mats and black rugged ridge mats, as well as several tan rubber mats. The tan definitely hides dirt much better than black. I found myself scrubbing down the black mats often whereas the tan mats can go almost indefinitely without really looking too bad.
Personally I liked the rugged ridge mats a lot better as there was a lot more depth of tread, they didn't get slick like the weather techs, and the material just felt higher quality. But either way I think avoiding black is a good call. I have the OEM black mats as well and I'm running into the same disappointments.
I got a full 3 row set on ebay for my 2012 explorer dirt cheap (under 200) so shopping around help. I loved them and have 2 kids so the former fit helps.
Husky x-act contour mats fit my new 2016 F150 great. I have the console and purchased the front two mats and the rear full-coverage (goes under the rear seats) mats.
I had Weathertech floor liners in my 2006 and 2011 F150s. They looked good and fit good. But they were kind of a flexible plastic and sort of slippery feeling under my shoes. So I went with Husky X-act Contours on my 2014 and I couldn't be happier. They are thick, grip-py rubber. I already have a set for my 2017 that isn't here yet.
Yep, I vote for the black mats, I'm using the Weather Tech floor liners also. I had issues with them in the Super Duty, but they're great in the F150, saves your carpet for sure. I have no experience with the Husky liners, so I can't comment on them, alot of folks swear by them though.
I ended up with the Husky Weatherbeaters and do like the feel of them over the harder plastic. My first set of Husky's on my last truck was when Husky still made a version like the Weather tech - hard plastic. Tough as nails, but slippery.
The weatherbeaters have been taking a beating with a smile, and I like not having my feet slip all over in wet weather.
On the colors, I happened to get the grey for a black carpet (I also have grey seats) thinking it would make a good contrast, but personally, now I think black on black would look better. As for hiding dirt, the grey doesn't seem to hide all that much more than black does. I live on a farm, so clumps of dirt and mud, especially this time of year, get in all the time, which is probably a bit harder to hide than "city dirt".
