I have a 73 f-100 with a 302, and a morotcraft 2100 with an electric choke. I'm converting to a manual choke because my electric one is broken and I prefer controlling it myself. Does anyone know where I can find an access point to run the wire for the manual choke?
Drill a hole and install a rubber grommet in the hole...........That way you can route the cable where you want it instead of possibly putting a kink in it due to an improperly placed existing hole.
I put the choke on, it was a pain. Cable was too short and I had to fab a mount out of a corner bracket. Ended up buying a lawnmower cable before it would work. It's on now though

Nice solution! Congratulations on getting it going
You need to have a relatively straight shot at it with the cable. If you do have to go around a corner.......the bend needs to be a fairly large radius. It sounds to me like the sheath of the cable may be slipping somewhere (probably near the carburetor) If it slips it will act like you described.
