I just buy the universal kits, whatever they have on hand. Things I have learned after using several over the years are:
Hook the linkage up on the carb like the instructions show. The kits I have installed lets the choke have play and not totally be controlled by the choke cable. So this lets the choke pull-off work better and also lets the air going in the carb pull the choke open a little bit.
I used to always snake the cable over near the steering column were there is usually a big enough hole to run it through without driling a hole in the firewall. The cables never did seem to work very good. On the last two I have done, I have found a spot in the firewall as close to the height of the choke as possible, and then I go ahead and drill a hole. I then run the cable through, and mount it under the dash right over the tranny hump, at about a 45 degree angle pointing toward the driver. In doing this I also cut a lot off the cable. The last two I have done work beautifully this way, with no binding and good control with the ****.
hey I was going to do the same thing. How long do you think that choke cable is after you cut it off? I could buy the long one, or they have them in 16,20 and 24 inches. Thanks, hoots68f100
