1997 f350 205k All pulleys, water pump replaced along with belt about 50 miles ago. Think the only ones I didn't replace were ac pully and power steering pully. Trucks sits for weeks on end. Every time I start it and take it for a drive the serp belt has a loud sqeeking that's constant. Doesn't matter if wet or dry out and doesn't go away after trucks fully warm which I figured it would? Any ideas? I might just be being over picky but it's obnoxious haha
Hey oldbird, ya I ended up doing that mod to my last 97 several years back iirc the idle pully and tensioner had enough tension on them that they were grinding into each other wish I still had the pictures. Napas new updated tensioner pully I installed has a longer arm to correct this issue. I'm woundering if just the lack of driving it (maybe 20 miles a week) has somthing to do with it? Might switch it up and drive the old girl all over this week see if it gets any better
Did you check the AC pulley when you replaced the others? If not then I would pull the belt, and check them just to make sure. I had an annoying sound like that and it is a wonder mine didn't fly apart
I had that problem that Ben had also. Last summer I had a 'chirping' noise and it turned out to be the vacuum plumb. For the tensioner I bought a motorcraft one from Riffraff.
Damn yea suprized that did come apart. I'm not sure If i did check it but while trucks running there's no visible play in the Ac or ps pullys but I will pull the belt and wiggle them around.
I am battling a squeek issue too, Ive replaced the tensioner and the issue still persists.. It sounds like its coming from the passenger side of the engine..
I sprayed WD40 on various pulleys with no effect... This squeek is going to drive me nuts
Our sienna van had a squeak for many years and I gave up on it then a recall came and they replaced the crank pulley since the rubber would separate, no more squeaks.
Well think I just figured it out went out and bought some lubricating spray and sprayed mildly to the Ac pump pully and the sound stopped then came back after a few min. How hard is it to replace? Thanks
