I know 1995 was the transition year, or F150's anyway, did some trucks with EECIV get MAF sensors before going to OBDII in 1996 and if so was it for all engine combinations? I have a 1997 F350 I transplanted a 95 4.9l into and I am thinking of converting to MAF and would like to find parts that fit my EECIV system if possible and not totally change over to OBDII as I have a E4OD tranny and would be a major PITA.
I keep forgetting which is which, but if I'm remembering correctly, earlier trucks were speed density and later they switched to MAF. And if I have that backward...
Anyway, no, there weren't any MAF systems with EEC-IV. The gas F-250HD and F-350 stayed EEC-IV and SD until the end of the '97 model year. Except in California where they switched to OBD2 and MAF at some point. But the net result is the same, no EEC-IV / MAF.
Yes there were EEC4 systems with MAF but only in '95 1/2 ton 50 state and Canadian trucks or '94 trucks if they were Cali spec. In '96 most everything went OBD2 except HD trucks that were carried over until the new Superduty was introduced in '98. Was the motor you sourced from a 1/2 ton? If so there is a good chance it was MAF and if so the engine portion of the wiring harness is not compatible with the chassis portion on your truck, if you just want to get the engine running use the engine harness from the original motor. If you want to convert to MAF you need to find a MAF I6 truck and pull the chassis harness right back to the firewall complete with the PCM and also grab the airbox and MAF meter, and intake plumbing.
I thought as much because my daughters 1995 F-150 5.8l has MAF and is EECIV. So it is possible to find one from 1995 with a 4.9l and upgrade to MAF and keep my EECIV diagnosics. The hunt is on!
The engine came from a 1995 F150 but it was early so no MAF and I got the entire engine harness with the engine. I have a MAF air box and piping so all I need to find is a the harness and PCM that also has the E4OD.
I researched the living crap out of this about 4yr ago.
Commifornia got MAF in 95. This thread is the first time I've heard anyone say 94. Some states, like IIRC, New York, Vermont and maybe other have laws and regulations to the tune of "you can' only sell 50-state vehicles in this state" and "dealers may only sell the variant with the cleanest emissions when multiple emissions calibrations are available"
AFAIK only the People's Republic of Corruptachusetts had such regulations in 1995. However, it's my understanding that those regulations usually only applied to vehicles ordered and while MA isn't the Obviously that just caused dealers to just not order those vehicles directly and instead up-sell the 302 or direct customers to dealerships under the same ownership in adjacent states. Since the 300 was a base model, artificially increasing it's price by mandating that dealers by the "Commiefornia edition" just makes the 302 up-sell easier. If the customer really wants a 300 then it's not hard to get one off a lot in a different state. I've seen exactly two 95 MAF 300s in New England (yes, I check whenever I go to the JY). On a side note, the Taxachusetts + MAF + 1995 thing is why I'm suspicious of Commifornia getting the MAF 300 in the 94 model year.

Some how you missed the late, lamented ford fuel injection. I feel certain they had a listing.
This is a 94 (see build date) MAF equipped 5.0/E4OD, granted, not a 4.9:
What I have saved doesn't show a 4.9, but I feel certain I've seen one (but could be wrong). I thought it was question of 94 MA existing at all, which comes up regularly.

AFAIK the 4.9 got MAF in the 95 model year in a few states, nothing in 94.
