So after washing and giving my new 17 SD its first wax noticed that my rear bumper was crooked. My initial reaction was first horror thinking some one backed into my new truck. Been then after further inspection and not finding damage of any kind came to the conclusion that my bumper was put on crooked. Its about 2 inches lower on the left side compared to right. Its extreamly noticable now that know its there. Has anyone else seen this? Is this an easy fix or could my frame be damaged or bent? Nothing else seems out of order. Bed, Body Tailgate all look straight. I just hoping its just the bumper needs adjusting and not something more serious. Anyone taken off rear bumper is there adjustment back there? Thx guys.
Man I looked it over really well at dealership, checked for leaks, made sure body panels lined up checked paint but did not pay close attention to bumpers. I mean really, who looks that close at the damn bumper lol.
But it's sooo obvious. Is it possible someone did hit it? No way...no way in the world I could walk around my new truck at the lot and not notice that much of a gap. I do have a great attention to detail I'm told...lol
Bumpers are adjustable. As a side note to this early reviews of the trucks on FTE complained about the gap between the bumper and the taillight. I have maintained that gap is in case of a tap so the bumper would not wreck a 1000 Blis taillight. Crawling around my truck the other day I also noticed rubber bumpers between the bumper and the body panel as well. Seems to be a thought out system.
I had a new truck years ago. I had climbed in back several times no problem then I climbed on the other side and the bumper did just like yours. It was not tightened enough. I just got under after leveling and tightened the bolts back tight. Took longer to find the correct size wrenches than to fix it.
When I bought my 07 new the whole cab was pushed to the drivers side a inch and a half.Had to loosen all the cab bolts and slide it over.BTW I did it,After two trips to Ford they said it was "Within Spec"....
I have also noticed that even with the (normal) gap under the gate it still won't come all the way down with the smallest amount of snow on the bumper!
Yeah...i'm with Troverman. Tailgate alignment looks good at the top. Wonder how the hitch is sitting under there though...in relation to the bumper if straightened??

Hitch is mounted to the frame. So any adjustment to the bumper will not affect the hitch..
just wear a one inch heal on your left foot and stop telling people about it. Or you can take it back to the dealer and they can bust it out while you wait. I say option two would be cheaper. No need in buying a bunch of left shoes

And by taking it to the dealer, if it should be more than a simple adjustment it's on them. They can't say that you screwed it up.
