I joined the site a years back under a different name. Let me say: This site has been a huge help for me with my daily driver fords as well as my ongoing project; a 1947 f100. I aquired the 1947 truck in 2012 but never started a build thread, mainly because my schedule was always erratic and progress was always intermittent. Ive made more headway in the last year/ year and a half than I did in the first three years. I took a lot of photos of the different steps as I worked through them. I recently made some photo slideshows and uploaded them to youtube. If youd like to check them out search them up! same username as here. UnitedStatesofBuild. The project is the 1947 ford f100. I gleaned info on the JAG IFS swap, the 5.0 HO swap, The 8.8 rearend swap from this site, I hope that some of the photos can be helpful to future builders. I am continuing progress and have begun FILMING in addition to the photos and will upload episodes to youtube is the build marches on.
I don't know when the f series started, maybe its not an f series at all? Thats what I been calling it but geez now I'm wondering......I'm sure someone here can set the record straight
I am looking forward to watching the rest of your videos! You might catch a lot of grief about calling your pickup an f series here, Ha. It looks like you have been busy.

It's a common mistake. The first F-series was a '48 model, and F-100 wasn't until '53, I think.
I took the F100 of the title of the thread, try to save you a little ribbing lol.
Your truck looks amazing, I can't wait to see more pictures.
Thanks! I started shooting some footage of the progress hoping to help with a few DIY subjects. Currently Im working on rust treatments, seam sealing and primer in the cab and doors. Ill also be doing some DIY sound deadening and heat insulation using micro spheres. Then on to windshield wipers, Ill need help from you fella's here as there doesn't seem to be a direct 12V swap that's affordable. I think Ill be retrofitting something. Also on the list will be: window felts and reassembly then on to door wiring and tie it all together with cab wiring.
I will have to check out the videos when I have time.
I do have a request and can be answered by any one I think that has a truck.
The Ford scrip on the tail gate what is the size?
Need to know how long across and how tall it is.
I don't think from what I have seen posted that the flat bed scrip is the same size (smaller) than what was used on the pick up trucks tail gate.
On my 81 F100 project I would like to get a sign shop to make up the scrip so I can stick it on the tail gate of my truck as I don't care for the block letters used from the factory for my year truck. I think the scrip adds class and would be my custom touch.

I like that idea. Back in the 90s I wanted a ford script from a ford tailgate to weld into what had been a gmc tailgate for a project truck I was building. I called a bed guy maybe mark k or someone who reproduces tailgates and asked if he could set a rectangle of steel into the dies and stamp one out for me. Instead he sold me a bed side filler from a '50s pickup that had the script embossed into it. It was a specialty piece he sold to hot rodders. A friend who's a body man welded it in for me. Maybe someone still makes them?
Thanks a head of time.

If I can find a pic I will post it up. Somehow most of my reply to this post ended up in the light blue section above....
Can anyone here recommend a good DTM (direct-to-metal) clear coat that won't ruin my current patina? I'm wanting to treat some parts before I move onto a new stage.
I recently found rattlecan clear primer at Runnings. I can't say much about it but maybe clear primer and a flat or satin clear topcoat??
Or just wipe it down with wd40 once in a while, that's what I do with my 29
