I just flushed my coolant system and installed a red ELC, Riffraff billet thermo housing, Ford thermostat, new hoses and Riffraff coolant filter. When I first started the truck and was waiting for the thermostat to open I notice at idle the flow from the coolant filter into the Degas bottle was a lot.
Fast forward a week and about 75 miles I have zero flow at idle and it will start to dribble at about 1300 RPM's and increase from there. It seems the flow would not be dependent of the thermostat being open since the connection is below it. I am wondering if my Donaldson filter is already full?
I used a flusher that uses air and water, after flushing I used air to blow to tap water out. How fast have you guys seen one fill up? I ordered 2 extra but just do not want to waste the first one
I bought more than one filter from Clay when I ordered the kit. I will throw a new one on and see how it does Tuesday. I will be down to one left so I think I will get a few more. If it flows like the first one after the change I am going to cut it open and see what it caught, I may do that anyway. Thanks
If I remember right I think I cut my 1st one open just to look & was kinda surprised at how clean it was. I think I had had it on there for just a couple of months. Now I just change it every year or so & keep an eye on the flow at the degas bottle.
Awesome!! It's doing its job. Not sure the price of your filters, but I get mine through fleetfilter. Master of fact, I get ALL my filters from there. Wife every year puts an order in at this time...
My first one was pretty loaded up after about 1 week. The next filter has been on there since & that's been a couple years ago and still have good flow.

OT a little...
You mean your wife voluntarily orders stuff for your truck
You better lock her up, that one right there is a keeper my friend.
I normally change the filter when I notice the flow stop. That reminds me that I should take a look at mine.
