I'm replacing the speedo gear on my '75 F250 4x4 4sp.
The first image is what is in the truck.
The second image is the one i want to use.
I put it in and it appears to fit, but it's not exactly the same on the back end.
Are these two interchangeable?
It has been a while since I replaced one. Don't they have a clip on the back side to keep them in place? If you can get the clip in then you should be good to go.
Update:
Not fine. After installing the new gear, my speedometer was bouncing this morning on the way to work. Pulled it out when I got home and the new gear is splined the opposite direction. Guess I should have compared the two closer and not been in such a hurry.
I ordered the gear from LMC and according to their catalog, it was the right one. But it's not!
We'll see what they say.

Look at the pics of the DRIVEN gears in post #3 and you'll see that some of the teeth run this-away ///// and some of the teeth run that-away: \\\\\

I had the exact same thing happen years ago and informed LMC of the problem, but apparently it persists.
I see that now NumberDummy. But I ordered the gear from the LMC catalog before I took the old one out. My mistake.
When I compared the two, it was easy to see they were splined differently and the LMC catalog is incorrect.
I did get an email back from them. We'll see where it goes.

The 16 thru 21 teeth nylon DRIVEN gears are available from Ford and auto parts stores, so there's no need to buy them from LMC then pay shipping charges.
