96 F700

Ive got a 96 F700 with a drill rig mounted on it. Its got a 5 speed transmission with the Eaton, 2 speed rear. Any ideas why the 2 speed has trouble shifting in the summer or when when working it hard in the winter. Im thinking it is a heat issue and want to know if it is common on these rears? Hi grade, clean gear oil in rear. Ideas or remedies anyone?

I believe those use a shift solenoid to change the axle speeds. I'd start there.

If it is electric shift, it definitely could be a heat issue.
