Anyone have any dash cams they are using that are good quality? I see tons of them in google, but looking for some quality reviews. Honestly was thinking of mounting one facing forward and another one in the rear.

Depends on your ultimate use. If just for documenting traffic Garmin has an excellent setup with good time stamping and GPS logging.
If for memorable adventures there are two schools of thought. The GoPro cameras do very well but are extremely wide angle. Good and Bad. The camera will record much of the surrounding area without having to change its aim to capture a wide view. Any of the Canon or Nikons in the 2-3 hundred dollar range do well too but the operator needs to be more interactive to capture full width scenery or urban street scenes. I believe they both have detachable lenses to give the full wide angle view.
I also know of one RV traveler who uses his Note4 and they produce some beautiful road shots but the small tablets take up more windshield space. If you are looking for scenic recording one youtuber, Freeway Jim does excellent work. In particular I enjoy his trips back and forth across Colorado and another down through the Virgin River Gorge in AZ.
His choice is a Sony HDRPJ710. His drives are too entertaining with great music selection. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/user/Freewayjim/videos
I haven't purchased it yet, but the Blackvue dr650gw-2ch may just be what you are looking for. The two cameras work in sync, plus there is a parking mode. Wirelessly syncs up to your phone as well for viewing.
A119 for me, it's the best bang for your buck at $90 (it comes with black 3m tape now for the mount). A new A119s is coming out soon that will be even better at night if you do a lot of night driving. Make sure you use high endurance cards though for whatever cam you end up going with.
I was looking into radar detectors to find the best (Still Valentine 1) and I found this guy that does really nice reviews. He also does dash cams. Vortex Radar » Radar Detector Tests, Reviews, and Guides and on FB as Vortex Radar. I had no idea there were so many dash cams and they vary a LOT in the features they have. Since I live in the country I don't know what I would use it for. Watching reruns of the Jack Rabbits running across the road, and the few that don't make it...
My wife has ordered me the Cobra CDR895P dash cam. It has a front and rear camera. The rear camera, I guess it has a wire for remote mounting on the rear glass. I won't get to actually handle it until Christmas....I know what it is because I picked it out.

That's the one I use. Best resolution and night clarity for the money. It uses capacitors instead of an internal battery which last much longer and work better in the summertime heat. Cheap, simple, always on.
Can someone explain that comment?

The 'impact sensor' tells the dash cam that an event has occurred. If it has the option, it will record the event.
Excerpt from another website:
Parking Mode / Buffered Parking Mode
If someone damages your car in your absence, a dash cam with parking mode will come to life and start recording, so you can see who hit your car. Note that dash cams do take some time to wake up, so unless your device has buffered parking mode, it might already be too late to see what happened by the time your camera starts recording.
In buffered parking mode, the dash cam records continuously while you are parked, but footage will not be saved to the memory card unless an event is detected (either by the G-sensor or by visual motion detection). Typically, footage from 4-10 seconds before until 20-60 seconds after the event will be saved.
