Tailgate tuesday

Looks a tiny bit wavy. Maybe a touch of filler in the corners.....lol
Here's a 1957-60 styleside tailgate, I won't list all the applications, (off my white 1966 F250 4x4) that they put in the closet of the camper whenever the camper was on the truck. Original paint and virtually dent free. Next to it is a 1964-66 2WD (66 F100 4x4) styleside tailgate taken off on day one and stored in a barn loft that was luckily nice and dry. Gotta love Eastern Washington. I find all my good stuff over there.

I have quite a few tailgates leaning on the garage and I actually like the earlier font a lot better than the 57-60. On my 29, I just cut one from the side of a 46-47 hood, in an oval shape, and welded it into the tailgate. You can also buy the stamped cursive ones, about the same and probably thinner so easier to work with than the old ones.

Sorry if that came off wrong, it is a beautiful truck and the smooth tailgate is a work of art. I just bang around in old "as found" stuff, too broke for a decent paint job.lol

I was looking for cursive letter only sticker or stencil so when I paint the gate I could either put it on after painting or before painting and pull it off leaving the cursive lettering behind.
I did not want to go with the block lettering on my 81 Flare side gate.
But will settle for the stamped one if the price is right and weld it in.
