I can't quit you, Excursion!

At 4 years, the Ex is the longest I've ever owned a vehicle before moving on to something else. And with 170k on the clock and questionable at best headgaskets, I've been been looking at switching over to a newer ('11 and up) F250.

But I came back here after a long absence and I'm reminded why I just need to buck up and drop the $5k and keep her. What a great community and what an awesome truck!

So assuming that she makes the trip to and from NC here next week, I'll be getting the headstuds and gaskets in January and I'll start looking at doing an 08 front end conversion and perhaps some new rims, tires.

Anywho keep on keepin' on and I'm happy to be a part of a community like this one of passionate owners.

Awesome! The Excursion (er our group on FTE) is quite addicting and in 10+ years we'll be getting "antique" plates and STILL be hauling trailers!!

Go with a newer front and rear swap.

Heck yeah, I can see myself doing that for sure. How much does something like that run?

Depends on how much of it you are willing to do yourself :-p

It's not cheap from what I've been seeing. But if you do the visual, you might as well update to the 06+ suspension while you are at it (which I see 5hub went with, nice choice!)

Why do you think you need studs? Without paint, you're looking at spending 3k in just parts and the labor depends on your skills.

Yeah, but if I'm going to be keeping the 'ol girl, I think it'll be worth it. Thanks.

I'm puking coolant and have been for about four months now. I've got some decent skills with both body work and paint but would probably prefer to drop it off for a week or two and pick it up all shiny and new.

Did you pressure test the cooling system hot and cold? It might just be as simple as a loose or leaking hose or even a crappy degas cap.

Nah, I'll pony up and do that when I take it to Ford this week for the oil change. The degas cap has been replaced twice, once aftermarket and most recently OEM. It's definitely puking too and not leaking.

Yeah, well I mean that's kind of the whole theme of the thread here. I'm ghey for the Excursion.

Now admittedly I've never seen Brokeback Mtn, so I didn't get the phrasing right, but when I pushed "start new thread" that was the intent.

I was trying to move on but every time I do, I come back to that big beautiful butt on the Ex.
