Can you tell by a picture if this is a unibody? 1978 460, D3VE heads, C6 transmission, Edelbrock intake.
Yes you can, and that is not one. A uni-body has one continuous body from front to rear, no separate "bed". On the doors, they appear to be from a 65/66 because of the "custom cab" on them, so I wouldn't trust the door tag being correct.
I didn't realize that the body was one piece. I thought it was an integrated frame.
The picture you post is a beautiful truck. I can understand the attraction to this futuristic design.
Uni's are 1961/63 F100/250 2WD only, the bed is welded to the cab.
The Styleside pictured in post #1 is not a Uni, as it's a 1964. Has 1964 body side mouldings, 1964/66 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD Styleside bed.
Notice the '64 door has a "dog leg" scallop line, all non Uni doors have this dog leg. Uni doors have a straight thru angled scallop line that matches up to the beds scallop line.
Custom Cab nameplate same for ALL 1961/66 F100/1100's, Uni makes no difference.
Thanks for the info guys. I would like a 64-66 4x4 shorty stepside on a 79 chassis.I have seen many awesome trucks and I like em all! Can't hardly make up my mind.

I thought that the Custom Cab on the doors for 61-64 was built into the handle, whereas the 65/66 had it as a separate trim piece that was mounted up closer to the glass such as in the OP's pic....?

The Custom Cab door handle guards were an option for 1963/66. When these were factory installed, there will be no Custom Cab nameplates...or body side mouldings.
Swoosh1958: Ford = Flareside, a stepside is a Chevrolet.

There's no accounting for taste but in any event I've read one "feature" of the integral or unibody design was excessive body flex, so doors would fly open now and then rounding tight corners. Hm.
This may be heresy but I always liked the Ch**y Cameo and Apache styling, GM had pretty good designers. I just like old trucks, no matter who made them.

I think the door opening up is an old wives tale. I have had 15 years of driving 3 different ones and never had a door open on me.
