2011 e350 5.4

Engine knocks real loud on startup for about 2 seconds then runs smooth. Any suggestions.

2011 E350 5.4 145,000 k

145,000 K Just changed oil and did not use reccomended filter motorcraft used fram. used fram last time with no problem.

And using the correct weight oil? These engines typically are trouble free. Guessing, it sounds like it could be main bearing(s).

If you did an oil change then it is because the timing chain tensioner was not upto pressure. If the noise went away, don't worry. If the noise persists I would get it checked out.

I always have filled up my oil filters to reduce dry start problems. 225k and no chain noises ever.
