Oil Filter
Does anyone use a longer filter on their 5.4? My dad has a 98 F150 2WD with the 5.4 and wants a longer filter. Is there one and could I get a part number please? Thanks in advance.

I use a Motorcraft FL-820S on my 5.4 and I'm assuming your dad is using the same. I'm not aware of a 'longer' filter. What may i ask is his reason for wanting a longer filter?

Oil Filter
Purolator PL24651 has the by pass valve at the bottom and has more filtration area than Motorcraft. Purolator builds Motorcraft oil filters. Most of the times a bigger oil filter is better. If you really want to get a good large oil filter, you will need to install an oil adapter.

The FL-820S fit's the chassis. I wouldnt be able to get a longer one in my truck. It's a 4x4.
A longer one won't help much. It will just hold a little more oil. It won't filter any better.
