The cargo light is wired to the dome light..yeah, I don't like it either.
Thanks, I studied drafting for two years when I was in high school, many years ago, back when there were lead holders and "T" squares.
As did I-four years in high school, and a summer internship at Northrop. Loved the drafting boards, T-squares and triangles. Probably the only kid in the neighborhood with engineering drawings on my bedroom walls.
Agreed. There's something to be said about actually being able to do something rather than just "point and click". If the grid ever goes down, I can still draw .
Also, Redagain, the wiring harness for the cargo light also ties in with the interior dome light and replaces the domelight only harness.
There are two different ones. I know the domelight changed design in mid '77. I'm not sure whether the harnesses are interchangeable or not, but the catalog shows 73-77 used D3TZ-13A709-C and the 78-79 used harness part number D8TZ-13A709-G.
I checked and there are a few NOS harnesses still available. Let me know if you want the contact info.
The switch is available aftermarket from several sources.
EDIT: Scratch those part numbers, they're for a regular cab, the Supercabs are different. BRB.
Okay, I rechecked the p/ns for the Supercab. 74-77 takes a D4TZ-13A719-B harness and the 78-79 takes a D8TZ-13A709-E harness. Unfortunately no dealer or obsolete parts supplier shows any in stock.
Probably the only difference between regular cab and Supercab parts is the length.
Thanks to everybody...love this forum....think i got all the info I need...as far as harness Mikeoo.....ive got a reg cab one off ebay..probably just have to lengthen it..thx much
Bed cargo light switch is NOT on the dash it is in the B pillar. Large bed light has a metal frame and a glass lens, smaller light has a plastic frame and plastic lens.
