I recommend this fix to everyone. Lumbar is to low anyway. Much more comfortable.
Thanks for the recommendation, Brandon. I had back surgery 20 years ago and pressure in the lumbar region becomes excruciating by the end of the first half hour in a seat with everyone else's (mostly) favorite lumbar support. Susie loves it, I cannot stand it.
Please explain the removal process, I know I will do it but your experience will make my job easier! Thanks.
I'm guessing he means to adjust it all the way back Rob. I think Tyler suggested the same. Not only does it add comfort to your lower back but it opens up more bottom seating area.

Right. In the trucks with the massaging seats (not certain about others) there are 3 lumbar region adjustments...all delivering a varying degree of uncomfort...from your lower lumbar region up to your T-10/12 area depending on the length of your torso. This was a BIG FIND for me as well...felt like I was being pushed off the seat. LOL
Great call, all. Rob - my wife has a fusion from T12-L2, a result of a skiing accident in winters past...she shares your literal pain, big deal for her as well. You'll appreciate this advice, brother. Best.
Ah, that makes sense. In Susie's MKC the lumbar support can still be felt even when at zero. I will wait and see when I get the vehicle. I am considering it might still be an option.
There is a thread in the 2015 F150 forum that has a real good explanation. It is reposted on this forum somewhere as well.
I opened the back of the seat and disconnected the cable that tightens to make the lumbar. You pop a little white cable elbow out of a metal loop. Makes a huge difference. The seat is stiil contoured enough to give you some lumbar effect.

Interesting. If you stumble across the thread on it again, post a link if you would...
The seats with the message don't have lumbar cables, from my understanding they are airbags, that inflate, you can here the compressor running when the message is running.
This is ridiculous...Having to modify seats on a 78K truck to get comfortable!!! I to find the seats in my 2017 Platinum extremely uncomfortable and cannot find a comfortable position no matter what I do....for me if feels like the top of the seat is pushing me forward and there is not enough seat to support my back and sides... I think what really messes me up is the head rest is grossly positioned to far forward. I removed my headrest and flipped it backwards...but now have no head support. Ford sucked it up big time on these new seats, which is a shame, because the bottoms are very comfortable and the massaging feature is really nice. However, this ain't the first thread about tearing seats apart to get them comfortable on the 2017's and these trucks have been out for a less than three months!!!
I have a 2016 350 & it seems that the lumbar is too low. I was wondering how hard it would be to take the seat cover off ( raise the mechanism ) & put the cover back on?
