This is ridiculous...Having to modify seats on a 78K truck to get comfortable!!! I to find the seats in my 2017 Platinum extremely uncomfortable and cannot find a comfortable position no matter what I do....for me if feels like the top of the seat is pushing me forward and there is not enough seat to support my back and sides... I think what really messes me up is the head rest is grossly positioned to far forward. I removed my headrest and flipped it backwards...but now have no head support. Ford sucked it up big time on these new seats, which is a shame, because the bottoms are very comfortable and the massaging feature is really nice. Howeer, this ain't the first thread about tearing seats apart to get them comfortable on the 2017's and these trucks have been out for a less than three months!!!
I somewhat agree but for every one who finds the seats objectionable there are probably hundreds who love them. Short of having seats custom manufactured to fit an individual someone will always be displeased. Remember, one size fits all actually fits no-one. So here is the challenge: convince Ford to make seats with adjustments to fit different body shapes, not just length and angle. That is an option many would willingly pay for if better comfort was to be had.
Dang, I must be the only one that is built just right for these Ford truck seats...
I've had 3 back surgeries. The last two being fusions. The last one they took the hardware out that they used to fuse three disc. The Neurosurgeon put a 5 disc cage in with bolts, rods and fused a couple more disc. I suffer with chronic pain from the three surgery's due to scare tissue, nerve damage and now with disc in the thoracic region. I have to wear a pain a patch and take other pain medication for break through pain. I played around with the seat setting's and the he lumbar massage is wonderful. It is very helpful when sitting long periods of time. If someone tried to remove mine...they would find out where I keep my gun in this truck .
Now our 2008 Honda Accord is different situation. I can't get comfortable in it. I have to put a small pillow in the small of my back to get comfortable. I am looking forward to see how I do on a long trip in our truck.
Ergononics are way off. I think Ford ignores people. The engineers get a bug up their *** and wont listen to anyone.
There are a lot of people at Ford who, with their fancy educations, shut the world out to real life and will only produce what the computers tell them is right for computer generated people and computer generated requirements. And now those computers are linked to the accounts receivable and payable and where does this all leave the little guy? Huge financial commitment to very expensive vehicles, if you are one of the ones fortunate to win the lottery and have this company produce and ship one to you. And incidentally, they do the same with their order process and with their customer service.
I can't recall any number of complaints about the previous gen seats. These new seats are what kept me from buying a 2017.
I am hoping Ford fixes this for 2018.
After having the pleasure of another 2017 at my disposal for a few days due to Turbo replacement in my 16. I can basically tell you it's not just the seat I started the conversation about this a few months back in 6.7 post while valves were being replaced in my engine had a 17 for six days 6.2 not a diesel. It's basically the entire arrangement of the truck just like the F-150 design very uncomfortable you sit too low to the floor like the Chevy trucks can't stand them either drove enough of them for work absolutely hate them. My dealer cannot believe I'm not buying another Super Duty going with ram disgusting I know lol but, I have to be comfortable for my 3-hour rides which is normal for me daily. The 17 I just recently acquired due too my Ford Festiva losing a transmission was the original loner vehicle too funny but , that's another story. On the same trip had the worst pain in my legs when I got to the job site. Unfortunately it has just sealed the deal for me to go buy a 17 Ram until Ford Motor Company comes to their senses and builds trucks again. Now I know I will get flamed for this but until Ford motor company stops catering to the weekend warrior the super duty will be just a memory for the workers of America a glorified F-150 basically what they turned it into. Technology is getting so evasive to the point now that even my 16 interferes with plowing by slowing the engine down thinking the wheels are spinning, hello I need wheel spin when I'm pushing 3 foot of snow LO . Well anyway good luck with your 2017 they do look nice and they have a lot of good things they did with the brakes and the full box frame and the new fuel filter on the bottom of the truck looks like it's really going to help keep water out of the system , they missed it with the rest of it which to me is the most important the overall ride of a truck if that makes sense sorry I can't explain it better I just can't put my finger on what I hate about it but after this second run unfortunately I'm done take care

I know that seats are important, but after my experience with Ram I'll take the Ford's seats, even if they end up being less comfortable. The seating in the Ram is a moot point, because it was being repaired so much that I wasn't in them very much. This is just my experience. I take very good care of everything I own, some just don't love you back.
Yes indeed i have owned RAM before my 2007 6.7 made more oil then the ground lol however, the new rams still have the truck seating test drove one very nice they have come a long way. It's just a pig compared to power stroke 6.7 tons of ft lbs but, no speed what a dog and that's the big 6.7 i drove with the high power it's laughable even the sales guys asked if my truck was tuned couldn't believe how fast it was just stock told him he has not driven the new 6.7 second gen power stroke
Which seats is it that people are finding uncomfortable, bench, bucket or both? Do all trim levels of the truck have the same issues? My dealer doesn't usually give very long test drives so a bad seat design might not be noticeable on a short drive.

I know some are commenting negatively on the seats in the upper level trucks as they mention the lumbar support. Like you, I've only been on test drives. However, I pick up my truck tomorrow morning and then I'll be able to comment more about them soon, however, I'm much like WolFox, having spinal cord issues.
My wife and I find the seats to be very comfortable. She's 5"6" and 120 lbs. and I'm 6'1" and 275. We both are VERY touchy about seats as we both have had spinal surgeries. She has a steel rod the length of her spine and I have plates and bolts, some of which are broken. That said, so far, I've not found any problems with the seats, but time will tell. I will say that the 2014 F250 Lariat that I previously had was the most comfortable seat I've ever owned in a vehicle. Better than my Lazy Boy, especially with heat and A/C.
On my 12 I like that the seats have thicker bottom cushion but my back has never felt better After driving the 2017. I have needed surgery for a while but Just won't do it. The 17 Has it good points and bad points but seems more powerful over all. The seats are better in some ways though but you need to mess with them for a while to get right setting and i cannot keep my wallet back pocket while driving very far or leg will go numb.

Before I had my L4=S5 back surgery I was avoiding it too with the help of a chiropractor who relieved the pressure and a neurologist who monitored the deterioration. They both said the worst thing someone can do is to carry their wallet in the hip pocket. It shifts the alignment and can put pressure on the sciatic nerve which won't be felt for years. I finally had the surgery done when I lost all feeling in my right leg all the way up past the knee and a convenient time came at the end of a project at work. 5 months lost time but it didn't effect anything major at work. And the neurologist who did the surgery re-iterated about the damage a wallet can cause and he really fried Susie with the statement "the vacuum cleaner is man's natural enemy. There should be no reason to ever touch one again or you'll be back seeing me again." Thank you doctor. 25 years later and she still seethes about that statement!

My chiropractor said the same thing about the wallet, I wear cargo pants so I can keep my wallet in the side pocket.
