I found a couple of older threads about this, but thought it was worth getting an updated response. We're looking for a turn signal mount, preferably with a horn button, for our project. There actually is a switch there that the original owner installed, I believe, but it's old and 6V based - need to get something new.
'49 Merc M68, converted from 6V to 12V. We've intentionally kept the old steering column - had to shorten it a bit to fit with the Toyota steering box, but the intention is to keep that old look where ever possible. So, we've lost the horn button capability (at least easily); and I need a turn signal switch mounted on the column. I'd like to get one unit that does that effectively. I've heard of these even including the high/low-beam capability, that would be nice if possible.
Has anyone used anything lately that works well enough, and what were the issues? I can find some pretty cheap-looking stuff online, but I'd prefer something that might last better so more rugged is, as they say, more better.
If you want something like what you have ,they are still widely used in transport trucks .Go see a parts dealer that deals with commercial trucks and you will have no problem finding something that works for millions of miles .
Thanks guys - I like the NAPA idea ALBUQ - F1. There's a NAPA store right down the street from my office, and once we're through the snowpocalypse descending on Vancouver I'd be able to go over there next week.
Thanks for that Mixer Man - that specific model comes up in any search I've done for the past day, at it looks to be a good solution. I'm wishing I could find a place that sells that in Canada, but haven't been successful yet, may have to go through the cross-border thing.
That looks like a great idea, Muppy, but with everything else we're trying to get done I think that might be a "next winter" project. Hadn't seen those kits before - thanks for sharing that.

Hot Rods has been around quite some time. I bought stuff from him back in 98-99 when I painted my truck the first time. He used to go to the Carlisle events. There were threads here recently saying they are closing their store.
If NAPA or Michigan Truckspring don't work out try A Parts Warehouse which is the company that has blower motors for our trucks at a reasonable price. They have a variety of switches some which are not in the online catalog. When I called them about the blower motor the woman I talked to was most helpful.

I will add that to the list - good to have options.
