I've been out of the 7.3 world for awhile. I still click around and help when I can. My phone always seems to default to the mobile app and I absolutely hate it! That's why I haven't been on much... anyways onto the problem.
A friend of mine bought a 7.3 I want to say L99 but not 100% sure on the year. He brought it over and had me go through it to make sure he bought a solid truck... no doubt he did! It's one of the quietest 7.3s I've ever hear. Bone stock aside from an intake he put on because I told him to.
He did a 08 conversion on the truck and now it won't start. I'm waiting on a reply from him for a lot of questions I asked. It cranks but doesn't fire. He doesn't have a way to see what the computer is saying and hasn't given me a defiant location as to where the truck sits other than its in a buddies shop. He has multiple vehicles this being his first diesel.
Here's what I've had him check so far.
Had him unplug the ICP sensor... no go
RPM on the tack while cranking... not moving (I'm sure this makes it clear to what the problem is but I can't remember)
Fuel bowl heater fuse... it's good.
Swap CPS.... no change.
Things I'm waiting for him to get back with me on...
Fuel tank level
Oil level
Tin nut on IPR
Battery voltage
That's what I know now. Once I get off of work and know where the truck is I'll be able to use my torque app on the truck. I assume doing the conversion he unplugged something.
No movement of rpm puts you digging into the CPS, but you replaced it with no change.
... Check 30amp fuse
... Other than that Johnny, the forum needs numbers
All things I was pretty sure I had steered him right on too... dang it! I was hoping I was wrong.
I had him check the 30 amp fuse too.
Looks like I'll be under the hood of a 7.3 soon enough lol thanks Timmy
Yep... it's his first 7.3 and guidance on a phone call apparently only goes so far. The other contradiction thing is the tack not moving while he was cranking...
