The backup camera on my '15 F-450 KR has decided not to work about half the time. First time it did this it gave a "rear camera unavailable" message on the screen. Now its started giving a black screen when I put the truck in reverse. I made an appointment to get it checked out but it started working and I cancelled the appointment. If it's working they probably can't find what's wrong. Yesterday it gave problems, today it worked every time. Anyone have any problems with their cameras?
That's kind of a tough one...intermittent problems can be a bear to find. Have you removed the tailgate recently? The camera is in the tailgate, and perhaps you didn't seat the connector properly when reinstalling it?
Those intermittent electrical problems are a pain. First thing in this case, even though you haven't taken the tailgate off, I would check the connector at the tailgate. Could be it loosened up just opening and closing the tailgate or something hit it and loosened it. Have someone you trust sit in the truck with it in reverse and wiggle the connector. If it cuts out probably your problem. Your truck is only a year or so old this should be still under warranty and if your not wanting to work on it take it to the dealer they will track it down. Even if they can't it's on record so they should fix even after the warranty runs out.
I have a 2017 Lincoln MKC. I'm having the same problem with my car. If the car sits overnight, the camera will work, but after the car sits for a couple of hours, the screen says "Camera Not Available." I picked up the car right before Christmas. It's been in and out of the shop for weeks. They replaced the camera but that didn't fix it. It has to be a computer issue. If they don't fix it soon, I'm returning the car under the Lemon Law.

i agree with what he says above - should still take it to the dealer to get the problem on record. Maybe take a video of it on your phone the next time it happens so that you can show the dealer.
